Your Data, Protected
Last Updated: May 2026
1. Information We Collect
When you sign up for Botly we collect your name, email, and hashed password. When you create a chatbot, we store the knowledge content you provide (FAQs, uploaded files, scraped website text) and any chat conversations between your bot and your end customers.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your knowledge content is embedded into vectors and used solely to generate answers for your bot. End-customer messages are stored to provide conversation history and analytics to you, the business owner. We do not sell your data and do not use it to train any third-party model.
3. Encryption & Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Any website authentication credentials you provide for scraping protected pages are encrypted with AES-256 before being stored. All traffic is served over HTTPS.
4. Cookies
We use a session cookie strictly for authentication. The chat widget stores a session ID in browser localStorage so end customers can continue conversations. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.
5. Third-Party Services
Botly uses Groq (Llama 3.1 8B Instant) to generate AI responses. Your content is sent to Groq solely for the purpose of generating answers, in accordance with Groq's API terms.
6. Data Deletion
You may delete any bot, knowledge item, or your entire account at any time from the dashboard. Deletion is immediate and cascades to all associated data.
